This is a role-based scouting model, not a stats leaderboard. Guards, wings, and bigs are evaluated on different templates, so each player is scored against the traits that matter for their position. Every trait starts on a 1-10 scale where 5 is average for the role, 7 is a bankable strength, 8 is a clear differentiator, 9-10 is rare or elite, and 2-3 is a major concern.
Trait grades roll into weighted category scores, which roll into the Final Player Score. The overall rating blends current ability, translatable tools, production, role fit, and forward potential. Read rankings in tiers, not exact order: a small gap usually means players are in the same evaluation band, while a larger gap across multiple categories signals real separation.
Younger players (2029 and underclassmen) carry more volatile scores because there is less of a track record. Their Final Player Score should be read as a wider range, not a precise number, and is expected to move between assessments.
These programs play OC schools but are based outside Orange County. To keep the OC rankings true to their name, their teams and players are left out of the team and player rankings. Their rosters, stats, and schedules stay available everywhere else on the site.
Every player who completes an OC Prep Hoops evaluation is added to these rankings — no exceptions. You get two live viewings, a full written scouting report, and a spot on the board.
